How Do I Deal with Guilt?

This question is almost universal among humans because “guilt” is a universal problem.
Why?
Because we have all sinned against God, who created us with a conscience.
Guilt is often misunderstood to be just a feeling, but it is more than that.
Like the prisoner on death row who has no remorse for his crime, we often excuse and justify our actions, yet we are guilty.
Guilt is the liability to punishment for disobeying God’s Law, summarized in the Ten Commandments.
Romans 3:19,20 says, “Now we know that whatever the Law says it says to those under the Law, that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may be guilty before God.  Therefore by the deeds of the Law shall no flesh be justified, for by the Law is the knowledge of sin.”
Our “trying to do better” will never be good enough, for that very Law we intend to obey is what condemns us all!
Thank God the Bible’s story does not end there, but promises all who come to Christ receive a righteousness from God—a perfect standing before God that includes the forgiveness of all our sins.  This righteousness was earned by Jesus Himself in His perfect obedience
to God's Law, including His obedience to the Law’s demand of punishment for disobedience.
Jesus died for our sins!
His righteousness is given to us by faith in Him alone.  Continue reading in Romans 3 and discover the conclusion,
“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the Law.”
