What Does the Future Hold?

While true and godly Christians differ on some of the details of how everything will unfold, there is uniform agreement that Jesus is coming again. His return will mean a final settling of accounts, if you will. Those who have received the gospel, trusting in Jesus as their only Savior, will enjoy the culmination of their salvation—eternal life in a wholly perfected state.  Those, on the other hand, who are under condemnation will experience final judgment—eternal torment and total alienation from God’s goodness. Sure, skeptics scoff and reject the notion, but that is the undeniable promise of Jesus Himself and the repeated declaration of the Bible.
Until He returns, though, the future holds the prospect of continued persecution of Christians (“all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution”), the ongoing degeneration of human society (“evil men and imposters will grow worse and worse”), and the further impact of the gospel, reaching people all over the world.
In the end, all who are truly His echo the cry that ends the Bible: “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”
