What Is God Like?
God is uniquely glorious, purely sinless, majestic.
He is calls Himself the great “I AM,” meaning that He is self-sufficient, existing in eternity past, present, and future.
He is the Creator of all things, including the universe, earth, all life, and human beings. Creation demonstrates complete mastery of every science. God is capable of altering the laws of physics at will to accomplish the impossible. He has infinite power, infinite knowledge, and is present everywhere all at once. All matter is held together by the Word of His power.
God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
Sovereign over all, nothing happens that He does not allow. He does not act without purpose.
He is one God existing as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Good, merciful, and just, he always honors His Word and fulfills promises.
Beginning with Adam, the first man, we have all gone astray and sinned. Rather than condemn the world, “…God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). Jesus said, “…whoever has seen me has seen the Father…” (John 14:9)
So the best way for us to understand what God is like is to understand what Jesus is like as we read the Word of God, the Bible. Jesus lived a perfect life on earth and died a horrible, bloody death of torture on the cross. Jesus’ death on the cross in our place satisfied God’s justice. Jesus was buried, but He rose again triumphantly. He offers to all the forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Turn away from sin and trust in Jesus today. He is our only hope.
