Why Is Life So Difficult?
Sometimes it feels like everything is going wrong. Making progress is like pushing a rope.
Why does life have to be so difficult?
We all go through difficult times, but in the beginning, it was not so. Adam and Eve lived in a perfect paradise world, but then they chose to eat the fruit of the forbidden tree and sinned. That sin brought pain, thorny weeds, difficulty, and eventual death to them and all who followed.
But why would God bring this upon us?
One of God’s purposes for difficulty and hardship is to turn us away from our sin and toward Him. Would we seek Him if life were nothing but ease? The difficulties we go through actually come because God loves us and wants to rescue us from sin. Any suffering we go through today pales in comparison to the eternal suffering we could face if God does not rescue us.
God has provided a Savior, Jesus. Though Jesus lived a perfect life, He suffered on the cross in our place. Jesus took the punishment for our sin so we wouldn’t perish forever. Turn away from sin, and put your trust in Him.
To those who do trust in Him, Jesus said, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
